Abstract

Neck dissection was the first organized and orderly approach to surgery of the, neck since Crile first described it in 1906. This will continue to play a vital roll in the cure of head & neck malignancy.
The classic neck dissection of today has changed little from the procedure performed by Crile and Martin.
But, a number of clinical studies have indicated that functional neck dissection results in no increase in neck recurrences.
Nowadays, unrescetable cases were possible to be operated by advancement of chemotherapy, irradiation treatment and flap surgery.
